TMC Health Aquires Dexa Scanners to Expand Access to Rural Communities
Benson Hospital and Northern Cochise Community Hospital are now home to state-of-the-art DEXA scanners, expanding access to advanced bone health diagnostics across the region.
The advanced Hologic DXA system offers faster, more detailed imaging for patients, significantly enhancing the hospitals’ ability to diagnose osteoporosis and osteopenia – conditions that affect bone density and increase the risk of fractures, particularly in older adults.
At Benson Hospital, the new DEXA scanner also offers a new service: full-body composition scanning. This service provides valuable insights into fat, muscle, and bone distribution, helping patients manage weight loss, chronic conditions, and overall wellness goals.
“Philanthropy plays a vital role in bringing advanced care closer to home, especially in rural communities,” said Deb Dale, Chief Development Officer of the TMC Health Foundation. “This investment in Benson Hospital reflects our shared mission to provide exceptional healthcare with compassion throughout Southern Arizona.”
